William Feather was an American writer and publisher. He is best known for his popular self-help books, which were widely read during the early 20th century. Feather was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1889. After graduating from high school, he began working as a journalist for The Cincinnati Commercial Tribune. He later moved to New York City, where he worked as a managing editor for Cosmopolitan magazine. In 1926, Feather founded his own publishing company, William Feather & Company. His first book, The Business Man's Love Story, was published that same year. Feather's most famous book, The Making of a Gentleman, was published in 1928. It became a bestseller and helped to establish Feather as a successful author. In addition to his self-help books, Feather also wrote fiction and nonfiction works on a variety of topics. He died in 1981 at the age of 91.
